BARMM elections to showcase Muslim-Christian unity, says Remulla

Interior and Local Government Secretary Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla has declared that the upcoming Sept. 14 elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) will serve as a global showcase of peaceful coexistence and governance between Muslims and Christians.

He believes the first parliamentary elections in BARMM can convey a powerful message to the international community about the possibility of Christians and Muslims living and working together.

Remulla issued a stern warning to police officers assigned to election security, holding them accountable for any violence. He urged Philippine security forces to act as "stalwarts for peace." Addressing candidates, he cautioned against "dirty tactics" and political intimidation, noting that social media makes such practices easily observable and unacceptable.

He called on both candidates and voters to uphold peace, asserting that the Philippines should demonstrate that Muslims and Christians can unite for the common goal of a better country. "Let us promise each other that in the next two weeks, and even in the years to come, that we have one goal in mind: to have a peaceful Bangsamoro region and to have a progressive and peaceful Philippines," Remulla said during the final command conference.
