Baseball: Former Fubon slugger dominates China league, while ex-Brothers pitcher throws scoreless outing

Wang Shih-tsung is continuing to make an impact in China’s City Baseball League. The former Fubon Guardians outfielder reached base twice and delivered a double as Changsha Wangwang defeated Fuzhou Strait 5-3.

Batting third as the designated hitter, Wang went 1-for-3, drew a walk and stole a base. The performance extended his hot hitting and left him leading the league in both slugging percentage, at .688, and stolen bases, with seven. His batting average stands at .406, while his OPS is 1.188.

Wang joined Fubon as the seventh pick in the 2018 Chinese Professional Baseball League draft. He led the minor league in runs batted in and stolen bases in 2022, but appeared in only 42 top-level games during his career, hitting one home run with a .213 average. Fubon released him after the 2023 season. He later played for the Taoyuan City adult baseball team before moving to China.

Former CTBC Brothers pitcher Hung Chen-yu also appeared in the game for Fuzhou Strait. He pitched two-thirds of an inning, gave up one hit, recorded one strikeout and did not allow a run. His season ERA is 4.50.
