Baseball League Faces Uncertainty as Shanghai Stadium Construction Lags Days Before Opening

With just three days remaining until the Chinese Professional Baseball (CPB) Summer League's "Summer Solstice League" is scheduled to commence on August 13, a significant logistical challenge has emerged: the main stadium in Shanghai remains incomplete.

This delay has prompted an official statement from the league organizers, who have not ruled out the possibility of adjustments to the schedule. The venue in question is the Xuhui Riverside Baseball Field, designated to host the opening match. Concerns about the stadium's readiness had previously been voiced by Chinese baseball fans.

Responding to these concerns, the organizing committee stated, "Please remain calm! The organizing committee is working diligently to ensure the smooth progress of the event. However, due to the recent impact of Typhoon Baihe Dolphin, we cannot rule out the possibility of adjustments or changes. Safety is our top priority, and any updates will be announced immediately through our official channels. We appreciate your understanding."

The Summer Solstice League will feature six teams, Xiamen Dolphins, Shenzhen Blue Sox, Fuzhou Sea Lions, Changsha Wangwang, Shanghai Orcas, and Beijing Zhengda Dragons, competing in both Shanghai and Shenzhen. Each team will play 15 regular-season games, with the top four teams advancing to the playoffs. The championship series will be a best-of-three format.
