Bauchi Governor Orders Security Forces to Intensify Crackdown on Criminal Hideouts

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdukadir Mohammed, has directed security agencies to intensify joint operations against criminal elements, emphasizing the need for coordinated action to protect lives and property. The governor stressed that renewed threats necessitate sustained efforts to safeguard vulnerable communities throughout the state.

Governor Mohammed praised the security forces for their recent successful operations against terrorists in the Alkaleri Local Government Area, describing the military offensive as a significant breakthrough in the state's ongoing fight against insecurity. He urged security forces to replicate these successes in other affected areas, including Ningi, Ganjuwa, and Toro, through increased patrols and coordinated ground operations.

To deny criminals freedom of movement, the governor instructed security agencies to enhance patrols, dismantle hideouts in forests, and strengthen surveillance, especially in border communities susceptible to kidnappings, banditry, and infiltration. He also issued a stern warning to traditional rulers against harboring criminals or facilitating illegal activities, stating that offenders would face legal sanctions.

Reaffirming the state's commitment to supporting security agencies, Governor Mohammed pledged improved logistics, technology, expanded military presence, and additional police stations. He encouraged stronger collaboration with communities and traditional institutions. The governor also commended the Nigerian Army, Police, DSS, NSCDC, vigilante groups, and other security operatives for their gallantry and coordinated efforts, noting that operations had led to the neutralization of high-profile criminals and the return of displaced residents to their homes.
