Bekasi Police Launch Large-Scale Patrols to Prevent Street Crime

Bekasi Police launched a widespread patrol across Bekasi Regency, West Java, on Monday night. The operation involved all police sectors to prevent street crime and maintain security.

Police Chief Commissioner Sumarni stated the patrol aimed to enhance safety in high-risk areas like border crossings and industrial routes. Officers inspected suspicious vehicles for dangerous items such as weapons, alcohol, and drugs. The patrol continued until early morning, focusing on industrial areas where criminals often target factory employees working late shifts.

"We are patrolling industrial access routes, inspecting the belongings of suspicious drivers one by one. We conduct this operation periodically," Sumarni explained. In Cikarang Pusat, police stopped three teenagers for traffic violations, including lacking licenses and helmets. The local police chief, AKP Elia Umboh, said the youths received push-ups as a form of disciplinary action. "We hope this intensive and massive patrol will help maintain a conducive situation, especially in areas prone to crime," Umboh concluded.
