Belgrade prosecutor: All homicides solved since start of year

All homicides, including attempted and preparatory acts, committed in Belgrade since the beginning of 2026 have been solved, announced Nenad Stefanović, Chief Prosecutor of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office (VJT) in Belgrade.

Stefanović attributed the resolution of these cases to the "effective and coordinated cooperation" between public prosecutors, police, and security services. He stated that this collaboration was key to identifying and prosecuting the suspects involved in these crimes within the VJT's jurisdiction.

According to the prosecutor, the majority of the solved cases, which involved both adult and minor perpetrators, stemmed from conflicts among individuals with criminal backgrounds. A portion of the incidents were also linked to problematic family dynamics, property disputes, and other personal motives.

Official statistics indicate that Belgrade has recorded a total of 14 crimes classified as aggravated murder and one "ordinary murder" since the start of the year. Additionally, there were six attempted aggravated murders and 11 attempted "ordinary murders" during the same period.

All the mentioned criminal offenses committed within the jurisdiction of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade have been resolved in terms of identifying and prosecuting suspects thanks to the effective and coordinated cooperation of the public prosecutors of this prosecutor's office with members of the police and security services.
