Bengaluru couple found dead after domestic dispute; engineer suspected of killing wife before suicide

A domestic dispute in Bengaluru tragically ended with the deaths of a husband and wife, identified as civil engineer Sumant Jain and software engineer Padmavathi. The couple was discovered deceased in their rented home on Thursday morning, following an argument that reportedly escalated into violence the previous night.

According to preliminary information, Sumant allegedly struck Padmavathi during the dispute and then suffocated her with a pillow. When he attempted to rouse her later, he realized she was no longer breathing. Panicked, Sumant reportedly contacted his mother, informing her of the incident before she alerted the couple's landlord.

Upon entering the residence, authorities found Sumant Jain hanging from a ceiling fan in the hall. Padmavathi was found dead inside the house. The Rajagopal Nagar police were notified and have registered a case, initiating an investigation into the circumstances surrounding both deaths.

The exact cause of Padmavathi's death and the precise timeline of events are still under investigation. The couple had been married for over three years and had been living in their current rented accommodation for the past four months. Police are working to establish the full details of the incident.
