Bengaluru Woman's Skeleton Found at Home; Death Likely a Year Ago

Skeletal remains of a 52-year-old woman, identified as Dakshayini, were discovered inside her duplex home in Bengaluru's Bagalagunte area. The discovery was made almost a year after her death, with no one noticing her absence.

Dakshayini had developed mental health issues after the death of her son in 2005.

Dakshayini had been living alone for several years. Her brother, Mahesh Basappa, informed police that she had developed mental health issues, including schizophrenia, after her son's death in 2005 and her husband's death in 2017. She had undergone treatment at various hospitals and a rehabilitation center.

She had been living alone for several years since the death of her husband in 2017 and had not been in touch with her family for about two years.

According to police, Dakshayini had not been in touch with her family for about two years. Her death remained undiscovered for so long partly because her married daughter, who lived separately, had not visited her in the past year. Police have registered an unnatural death report and are investigating the exact cause and circumstances surrounding her demise.
