Benjamin Netanyahu’s Son Evacuated from the US Over ‘Serious Threat’ from Iran

Yair Netanyahu, the eldest son of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, was urgently evacuated from his residence near Miami after Israel’s Shin Bet security service identified what it called a “serious threat” from Iran.

Shin Bet said the decision followed an assessment carried out with the security team protecting him. The service did not specify where the threat came from, but said Yair Netanyahu was brought back to Israel for his safety.

The evacuation came days after American and Israeli media reported an alleged assassination plan targeting one of the prime minister’s sons. Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that information without saying which son had been targeted. “Iran targeted one of my sons. Iran tried to kill one of my sons,” he told Israel’s Channel 14.

There is a serious threat against Yair Netanyahu and, given this and following an assessment, the decision was made together with the security team to evacuate him urgently and bring him back to Israel.

Yair Netanyahu, 35, had lived in the United States for an extended period, including in Miami since 2024. Public information indicates that he receives Shin Bet protection. His presence in Florida had prompted controversy in Israel, including over the cost of providing security. Some local residents also worried that his presence could make the area a potential target.

Israeli journalist Amit Segal later said on his Telegram channel that the alleged assassination attempt had been known for several months, but could not be published because of a reporting ban.
