Benue bans extra lessons, phone use, tightens rules in schools

Benue State has tightened rules in schools as pupils, students and other learners return for the 2026/2027 academic session.

The new measures prohibit compulsory extra lessons, unauthorized use of mobile phones and graduation ceremonies for non-exit classes.

Education and Knowledge Management Commissioner Margaret Adamu announced the rules while welcoming learners back to school.
