Bersatu Hopes RoS Suspends PN Coalition Amid Marginalization Claims

Within the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), there is hope among leaders and members that the Registrar of Societies (RoS) will suspend the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition. Such a move would prevent coalition parties from using the PN symbol in upcoming elections, a situation some within Bersatu view as a form of "justice."

Bersatu alleges it is increasingly sidelined within PN, citing its exclusion from Supreme Council meetings and disputes over seat negotiations for the Negeri Sembilan state election. Consequently, Bersatu is expected to submit technical details to the RoS regarding its previous complaints about PN. Former Deputy Permanent Chairman of Bersatu, Datuk Hashim Suboh, indicated that these technical matters include exclusion from PN's Supreme Council meetings, decisions made outside of meetings, and statements by certain leaders.

Hashim Suboh suggested that if PN is suspended, component parties such as Pas, Parti Wawasan Negara (Wawasan), and Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia (Gerakan) would have to use their own logos. He observed that Bersatu has faced unfair treatment and marginalization within PN, with Wawasan appearing to receive preferential treatment. "I expect PN is highly likely to be suspended based on the technical matters Bersatu will submit. I also believe Bersatu will include many more technical cases that could lead to the suspension," he told Utusan Malaysia.

The RoS confirmed it received Bersatu's official complaint, including allegations of exclusion from the PN Supreme Council meeting on July 16. The RoS is reviewing these complaints based on the Societies Act 1966, related regulations, the coalition's approved constitution, and official records.

Mohamad Hanifah Abu Baker, a member of Bersatu's Supreme Leadership Council (MPT), stated that if Bersatu is denied the right to use the PN logo, other parties should face the same consequence. He emphasized that the complaint to the RoS is to defend the party's rights. "Bersatu is the founder of PN. But now our rights are being questioned, and we are not allowed to attend PN meetings. That is why the official complaint was made. So, if we cannot use the PN logo, they cannot use it either," he said.
