Bersatu Operations Room Quiet After Negeri Sembilan Election Defeat

The main operations room (BGU) of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) in Nilai appeared deserted following the party's loss in the Negeri Sembilan state election. A survey by Utusan Malaysia found the BGU, located in Jalan Nilai Square, Bandar Baru Nilai, largely empty of prominent leaders.

Among the few notable figures present were Bersatu's treasurer, Datuk Seri Rina Harun, and Supreme Council members Dr. Afif Bahardin and Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof. Their presence, however, did not fill the void left by the absence of central leadership.

Utusan Malaysia understands that the party's top leaders were occupied with a political bureau meeting in Kuala Lumpur. This engagement reportedly prevented them from attending the operations room in Nilai, contributing to the quiet atmosphere post-election defeat.

Bersatu had contested 24 state seats in the election, including four seats allocated to its affiliate wing, Bersekutu. The party's decision to contest independently followed the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition's electoral pact with Barisan Nasional (BN).
