Bersatu Senator Azahar Hassan Quits Party, Resigns All Posts

Senator Azahar Hassan, who also served as the secretary for the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (Bersatu) in the state, has declared his immediate resignation from the party. He is stepping down from all his positions within Bersatu, including his role as Deputy Head of the Kangar division.

Despite leaving the party, Hassan stated that he will continue to serve as a senator, fulfilling his responsibilities to the people of his state. He explained that his decision was the result of extensive consideration, thorough research, and deep reflection on current events.

"I believe this decision is based on principles, stance, and personal considerations to continue the direction of struggle that I believe in," Hassan said. He emphasized that his departure was made with respect for the party and its members, acknowledging the challenges they faced together during his involvement.

Hassan expressed his gratitude to the party president, leadership at all levels, and Bersatu members for their trust, support, and cooperation throughout his tenure. Previously, the Menteri Besar (Chief Minister) Abu Bakar Hamzah and a state executive council member also resigned from their positions in the Supreme Leadership Council (MPT) of Bersatu.
