Bersatu Terengganu Faces Leadership Crisis as Top Officials Resign

Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) in Terengganu is grappling with a significant leadership crisis after Datuk Razali Idris announced his resignation as the state party chief. His departure is followed by the resignations of two other senior figures: Mohd. Zawawi Ismail, who held the position of State Information Chief, and Mohd Husaimi Hussin, the State Treasurer.

Razali, who also serves as the State Assemblyman for Kijal, confirmed that he submitted his resignation letter to Bersatu President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on July 16. However, he indicated that he has not yet received confirmation or a decision regarding his resignation. Razali, who has led the Terengganu chapter for approximately 10 years, declined to elaborate on the specific reasons behind his decision.

Further complicating the situation, the Deputy State Party Chief, Khazan Che Mat, has hinted at following suit. Che Mat, who is also the Head of Bersatu's Marang division and Deputy Speaker of the Terengganu State Legislative Assembly, stated his intention to resign if Razali steps down, citing his loyalty to Razali, who invited him to join Bersatu in 2016. The party now faces uncertainty as it navigates these high-profile departures.
