Beyoncé donates $1 million to aid Colombia after earthquake

American pop superstar Beyoncé is donating $1 million to aid Colombia following a devastating 7.4 magnitude earthquake that struck the country two weeks ago. The donation will be channeled through organizations providing on-the-ground assistance.

Parkwood Entertainment, Beyoncé's company, confirmed the donation, stating it is intended to immediately provide food and housing supplies to the most severely impacted regions. The earthquake, which occurred on August 10 in Chocó, has had a catastrophic effect on the area.

The company also highlighted two organizations involved in recovery efforts: Food for the Poor and World Central Kitchen, founded by Spanish chef José Andrés. These groups are working to deliver essential aid and support to affected communities.

Official reports indicate the earthquake has claimed 331 lives, with 4,439 people injured, 240 missing, and 364 rescued. Beyond the casualties, numerous residents have lost their homes, and critical infrastructure has been damaged, severely disrupting food supplies in several cities.
