Bhotekoshi flood leaves Syafrubesi in ruins, cuts off road access

Much of Syafrubesi, a settlement in Nepal’s Rasuwa district, was swept away by the Bhotekoshi flood. Homes and hotels were destroyed, leaving extensive damage across the area.

Road access remains difficult beyond a stretch of about five kilometres from Dhunche. The flood damaged the Trishuli River section of the Pasang Lhamu Highway, cutting off Syafrubesi and other affected areas.

The disruption has made it harder for authorities to deliver relief, conduct rescue operations and search for people still missing. Residents and relatives continue to report unaccounted-for family members. As the days pass, hopes of finding them alive are fading, while fears grow that some bodies may never be recovered.

Brigadier General Ujjwal Bikram Rana of the Shree Shreenath Battalion said personnel from the Nepali Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police have worked continuously in the affected areas since the flood. Security forces continue to search for missing people and assess the full extent of the damage.
