Biblical Flood Devastates Nepal: Hundreds Dead and Missing, Tourists Among Victims

A flood of biblical proportions has devastated parts of Nepal, claiming at least 165 lives and leaving hundreds more missing, including a significant number of foreign tourists. The Ministry of Tourism reported that 468 tourists and travelers remain unaccounted for 24 hours after the deadly flood. Among the missing are 75 Nepali nationals, according to a ministry spokesperson. The confirmed death toll includes victims from both Nepal and neighboring China, where Chinese authorities reported an additional 558 people missing, including approximately 260 foreigners.

The exact nationalities of all missing individuals have not yet been clarified. The scale of the disaster has prompted urgent search, rescue, and relief operations as authorities work to establish the full human and physical toll. The destruction of bridges, roads, and hydropower facilities has further complicated relief efforts and impacted local communities.
