Bibury, England, named world's most beautiful village by Forbes

Bibury in England has been crowned the most beautiful village in the world, according to a new ranking by Forbes magazine. The list, published in 2025, identifies 50 villages globally that are distinguished by their exceptional landscapes, architecture, and atmosphere, offering a tranquil retreat from the hustle and bustle of city living.

Out of the 50 recognized villages, a significant portion, 23, are located in Europe. Bibury, situated in England's Cotswolds region approximately 120-130 km from London, secured the top spot. It is renowned for its charming stone cottages surrounded by greenery and its historically preserved architecture. Arlington Row, a collection of former weavers' cottages, is a particularly popular spot for tourists. The village also boasts England's oldest working trout farm and the historic Church of St. Mary.

Following Bibury, the Austrian village of Hallstatt claimed the second position. Nestled beside a lake of the same name, Hallstatt attracts visitors with its historic architecture and stunning mountain scenery. Despite its small population of around 700 residents, the village can see up to 10,000 visitors daily.

Norway's Reine, located above the Arctic Circle on the Lofoten Islands, ranked third. It offers visitors breathtaking mountain landscapes, the chance to witness the Northern Lights, and cozy cafes. Other European villages that made the top ranks include Giethoorn in the Netherlands, Gásadalur in the Faroe Islands, Oia in Greece, Bourtange in the Netherlands, and Kotor in Montenegro. The top ten is rounded out by Shirakawa-go in Japan and Batad in the Philippines.
