Big questions over border security

Fiji’s growing dependence on Australian technology and expertise is raising questions about whether it can manage and sustain its own border security systems.

The concern comes as the proposed Vuvale Union is set to deepen Australia’s role in Fiji’s border management. Immigration Permanent Secretary Aliki Salusalu raised the issue before the country’s Parliamentary Standing Committee.
