Bilawal receives JAAC response on Truth and Reconciliation Commission, says he will consult stakeholders on way forward

Islamabad, Pakistan – Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), announced Saturday that he has received a response from the proscribed Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) concerning his proposal to establish a Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

Bhutto-Zardari welcomed the JAAC's willingness to engage with the proposed commission as a potential institutional path forward. He noted that the commission's establishment also has the backing of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly. "The loss of every precious life is a national tragedy," Bhutto-Zardari stated on X, formerly Twitter. "At this moment, my foremost priority is to help bring an end to the ongoing crisis, provide immediate relief to the people, and restore normal life in Azad Jammu and Kashmir as soon as possible."

Moving forward, Bhutto-Zardari plans to consult with Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore. This consultation will include seeking initial input from the federal government and other relevant stakeholders. The goal is to identify common ground among all parties for a mutually agreed-upon proposal to establish the commission.
