Bishkek Construction Firm Fined After Building Site Fire

The construction company "Elim House" LLC in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, has been fined 200,000 Kyrgyz som following a fire that broke out on June 23 in the basement of a multi-story building it is constructing in the "Kalys-Ordo" residential area.

The fire started around 11 a.m. in the basement of the building. Inspectors from the Bishkek City Department of the State Architectural-Construction Control conducted an inspection after the incident. They determined that the fire originated in the basement of the western wing of the building, where waterproofing work was being carried out.

Preliminary findings suggest that sparks from welding operations during the installation of building structures may have caused the fire. As a result of the inspection, "Elim House" LLC received a written order for violating safety requirements. The developer is obligated to enhance safety measures at the site and strictly adhere to Kyrgyz construction norms, specifically КЧ 12-02:2018 concerning the organization of construction production.

In addition to the fine, the company must obtain conclusions on the construction object from the State Institute for Seismic-Resistant Construction and Engineering Design, as well as from the Fire Safety Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
