Bishkek Man Arrested for Online Calls to Unauthorized Rally

Authorities in Bishkek have detained a 23-year-old man on suspicion of inciting an unauthorized rally through online calls. The Main Department of Internal Affairs of Bishkek reported that officers identified a social media account, previously known as beksultankg99 and currently operating as Slivy_telegramm on Threads, as the source of the alleged incitement.

According to police, the account regularly disseminated what they described as "negative information regarding Chinese citizens." It also allegedly published calls for illegal actions, including participation in an unauthorized rally planned for July 23 in Ala-Too square. This has led to a criminal case being opened under Article 278 of the Kyrgyz Republic's Criminal Code, which addresses calls for mass unrest and disobedience to lawful government demands.

During investigative operations, law enforcement identified the account owner, identified as citizen O.A. The suspect was taken into custody and voluntarily surrendered an iPhone 14 Pro, along with three other mobile phones and a laptop, which were seized as evidence. A court has ordered the suspect to be held in pre-trial detention for two months while the investigation continues.
