Bitė and Tele2 restore most mobile network services after storm

Mobile network operators Bitė and Tele2 report significant progress in restoring services after a recent storm caused widespread disruptions across Lithuania. While most of the network is back online, some areas continue to experience intermittent mobile connectivity issues.

Tele2 stated that the majority of the 366 affected base stations are now operational. However, 99 stations are still without power. The company noted that while service has been restored in many regions, the situation remains more challenging in the Marijampolė, Kaunas, and Utena areas.

Bitė also reported that over 70 percent of the disrupted communication towers are functioning again. Despite this, approximately 90 towers are still offline, impacting around 13,000 Bitė customers. The primary cause of the widespread outages was the loss of electricity supply following the storm.

The efforts to restore full service are ongoing, with both companies working to address the remaining connectivity problems. The storm's impact highlighted the vulnerability of network infrastructure to severe weather events and the critical reliance on stable power sources for telecommunications.
