Bizarre Accident: Truck Hit Onto Tracks, Then Hit by Train in Yokohama

A bizarre traffic accident in Yokohama, Japan, resulted in a truck being pushed onto railway tracks, where it was subsequently hit by an oncoming train. The incident occurred around 11:05 AM on August 4th in Aoba Ward.

The sequence of events began when a truck collided with a light truck at an intersection. The impact was forceful enough to propel the truck onto the tracks of the Tokyu Den-en-toshi Line, between the Kodomonokuni and Tana stations.

Tragically, a train traveling on the line was unable to brake in time and collided with the truck that was obstructing the tracks. According to the Aoba Police Station, the 50-something female driver of the truck and the 20-something female driver of the light truck sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital. Approximately 100 passengers on the train evacuated on foot to the nearby Tana station.

Tokyu Electric Railway announced that all train services on the Den-en-toshi Line have been suspended, and there is no clear indication of when normal operations will resume. The unusual nature of the accident has caused significant disruption to the local transportation network.
