Weather agency warns five counties of heavy rain, Chiayi County braces for downpour

Taiwan's Central Weather Administration has issued a heavy rain advisory for five areas: Taichung, Changhua, Nantou, Yunlin, and Chiayi. The agency forecasts a high probability of localized heavy rainfall from this morning through the afternoon.

Chiayi County, in particular, is at risk of experiencing torrential downpours. The advisory highlights the development of strong convective clouds, which are expected to produce intense, short-duration rainfall. Specific warnings include the possibility of lightning strikes and strong wind gusts. Low-lying areas are susceptible to flooding, and mountainous regions face the risk of landslides and falling rocks.
