Bizarre Man Stands on Kaohsiung Crosswalk, Kicks Legs and Shakes Bags, Disrupting Traffic

An unusual incident unfolded in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, where a man was recorded standing on a pedestrian crossing, engaging in peculiar behavior that significantly disrupted traffic flow. The man, carrying two plastic bags, stopped on the crosswalk, prompting oncoming vehicles to slow down and yield.

However, instead of proceeding, the man began lifting his legs and shaking the plastic bags he was holding, remaining stationary. His erratic actions left drivers confused and hesitant, unsure whether to pass or wait. The situation was captured on a dashcam and shared online, sparking widespread discussion.

According to reports, the incident occurred at the intersection of Zhongxiao and Henan Roads in the Xinxing District. Drivers attempting to navigate the crosswalk were perplexed by the man's seemingly random movements, which included stopping, kicking his legs, and swinging his arms with the bags. One car driver, after waiting for a moment and honking to signal the pedestrian to proceed, eventually drove around him due to concerns about impeding other traffic.

Kaohsiung police reviewed the video footage and determined that the pedestrian's unpredictable behavior may have violated Article 78, Paragraph 1, Item 4 of the Road Traffic Management and Penalty Act. Consequently, the man could be subject to a fine of NT$500 for obstructing traffic. Police are urging the public to exercise mutual respect and adhere to traffic regulations, whether driving or walking, and have pledged to increase patrols to enforce these rules.
