Bizerte: 21.1 million dinar project to transform Menzel Abderrahmane fishing port

The governor of Bizerte, Salem Ben Yaâcoub, has called for an accelerated pace in the realization of the Menzel Abderrahmane maritime fishing port's expansion and development project. The overall cost of this significant undertaking is 21.1 million dinars.

A working session held at the governorate headquarters focused on monitoring the project's progress. Discussions centered on the advancement of its various components and methods to boost the work's momentum, particularly for the completion of the planned seaside area east of the port. This project is part of a broader initiative to clean up the Bizerte Lake area and includes environmental, economic, and professional aspects.

The development plans include the construction of quays for maritime activities, installation of mooring equipment for vessels, creation of spaces for net mending and boat repair, and the establishment of facilities for fishermen. Additionally, the project involves rehabilitating the old quay and developing a new seaside zone to enhance the region's appeal.

Governor Ben Yaâcoub stressed the importance of increasing the technical execution speed for all project components, noting that the necessary financial and administrative conditions are in place. He urged the involved companies to respect the deadlines, establish a precise intervention schedule, and take all measures to prevent further delays. The governorate stated that the project aims to improve the working conditions for maritime fishing professionals, modernize port infrastructure, and foster the growth of the blue economy, all while safeguarding the region's environmental and marine balance.
