Bled to host European Rowing Championships in 2027

Lake Bled, Slovenia, will be the stage for the 2027 European Rowing Championships, a decision confirmed by the European Rowing Federation during a meeting at this year's championship in Varese, Italy. This picturesque location, often referred to as the "pearl of the Gorenjska region," has a rich history of hosting the prestigious event.

Bled previously welcomed the European Championships in 1956 and most recently in 2023. The upcoming championship is scheduled for May 28-30 next year. Beyond continental competitions, Bled has also proven its mettle as a host for the World Rowing Championships, with its last hosting duty being in 2011, serving as a crucial test event for the rowing program at the London Olympics.

Jernej Slivnik, Secretary General of the Slovenian Rowing Federation, expressed his satisfaction with the successful bid. "Bled's candidacy received unanimous support, which is an expression of trust in our abilities, knowledge, and experience as hosts of major competitions," he stated. The unanimous backing signifies confidence in Slovenia's capacity to deliver a successful and well-organized event.
