Blind dog causes commotion on Zagreb bus, requires police and shelter intervention

A peculiar incident unfolded on a public bus in Zagreb when a blind dog boarded and refused to disembark, creating a scene that required intervention from both the police and an animal shelter.

The dog, described as a "freeloader," hopped onto a ZET bus in the eastern part of the city. It sniffed out a seat, made itself comfortable, and resisted the driver's attempts to remove it, even showing its teeth. The unusual passenger prompted the driver to contact the police, who in turn alerted the Dumovec animal shelter.

Shelter worker Domagoj, known as "Dugi," responded to the call. He used his expertise to approach the dog, eventually coaxing it to come to him with a wagging tail. After fitting the dog with a collar and leash, he read its microchip. This revealed that the dog, which enjoys "stretching its legs without human company," had previously been at the shelter two years prior. A notice was left for the owner at their address, informing them that their pet was at Dumovec.
