BMW Took Over Alpina, But Buchloe Still Builds Alpina Cars Under a Different Brand

Following BMW's acquisition of the Alpina brand's naming rights, the Alpina family has embarked on a new chapter by launching its own marque: Bovensiepen. While BMW aims to elevate the Alpina brand to a position between BMW and Rolls-Royce, the Bovensiepen family has preserved its original company, manufacturing facilities in Buchloe, and over 60 years of automotive expertise.

The first creation under the Bovensiepen name is the 05 GT, a striking coupé based on the BMW M4 Convertible, developed in collaboration with Italian design house Zagato. This project showcases the family's continued commitment to building exceptional vehicles, distinct from BMW's future Alpina direction.

Now, Andreas and Florian Bovensiepen, sons of the late Alpina founder Burkard Bovensiepen, have unveiled the Bovensiepen 05 GT. This new model is built upon the BMW M5 Touring platform and features significant modifications. Collaborating with renowned designer Frank Stephenson, known for iconic designs like the new Mini and Ferrari models, the Bovensiepen 05 GT aims for enhanced comfort and relaxation during long journeys.

The Bovensiepen 05 GT boasts a modified suspension with Eibach springs and specialized Pirelli tires. Exterior enhancements include a stainless steel grille, subtly redesigned bumpers, a split rear spoiler, and new 21-inch forged wheels, presenting a more understated yet elegant aesthetic than the standard M5. Under the hood, the car features an Akrapovič titanium exhaust system and upgraded intake and software, boosting output to 790 horsepower and 1100 Nm of torque, surpassing even the electric-enhanced European M5's 717 horsepower.
