BN emerges as the biggest winner in Negeri Sembilan state election

Barisan Nasional (BN) has emerged as the dominant force in the 16th Negeri Sembilan State Election, clinching victory in 18 of the 36 available State Legislative Assembly seats. This significant win positions BN as the largest single party in the state legislature.

The election results, announced late Saturday night by the Chairman of the Election Commission (SPR), Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun, saw Pakatan Harapan (PH) secure 11 seats, while Perikatan Nasional (PN) obtained seven seats. The SPR chairman declared the electoral process to have been conducted independently, fairly, and transparently.

A total of 646,084 voters, or 72.64 percent of all registered voters, fulfilled their responsibilities, involving early voters, postal voters, and regular voters.

With a voter turnout of 72.64 percent, a total of 646,084 registered voters participated in the election. The results indicate that BN and PN, having formed an electoral understanding, collectively secured 25 seats, comfortably exceeding the two-thirds majority required to form the state government.

BN Chairman Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had previously indicated that further discussions between BN and PN would take place to finalize the formation of the new state government. The Election Commission expressed satisfaction with the smooth conduct of the voting process, noting that registered voters had fulfilled their rights and responsibilities effectively, with no significant incidents disrupting the proceedings.
