BN wins big

Barisan Nasional (BN) has reaffirmed its dominance in Johor, securing a sweeping victory in the state election and proving its decision to contest solo was the right move. Unofficial results indicate BN won more than 40 of the 56 seats, enabling them to form the state government with a decisive two-thirds majority. This outcome marks a significant win for BN, strengthening their political standing in the southern Malaysian state. Among the key seats won by BN was the DUN Machap, contested by Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, alongside other notable constituencies. BN also managed to reclaim several seats previously held by opposition parties. In contrast, their main rival, Pakatan Harapan (PH), saw its seat count drop significantly, winning only seven seats compared to 12 in the previous election. Perikatan Nasional (PN), a coalition including Bersatu, PAS, and Pejuang, failed to secure any seats, a stark decline from the three seats they won in 2022. Other parties and independent candidates also failed to make a significant impact. BN Chairman Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi attributed the victory to BN's excellent performance and described it as a personal success for Onn Hafiz, praising his efficient administration. He emphasized that BN would govern with humility and fulfill its promises, vowing to maintain cooperation with the federal unity government in Putrajaya. The Election Commission reported a voter turnout of 67.44 percent by 5 p.m. on election day.
