Boca and River draws shake up Argentine Clausura's sixth round

Boca Juniors and River Plate, two giants of Argentine football, both dropped points in the sixth round of the Torneo Clausura on Sunday. River Plate squandered a two-goal advantage against Vélez Sarsfield, settling for a 2-2 draw. The result comes just before their crucial Copa Sudamericana tie against Independiente Santa Fe.

Boca Juniors also failed to secure a win, drawing 1-1 with Racing Club in a night-time classic. This follows their strong performance in the Copa Sudamericana, where they advanced to the quarterfinals with a dominant 4-0 victory over Deportivo Recoleta.

In the league standings, Instituto de Córdoba currently tops Zone A with 10 points after a goalless draw with Atlético Tucumán. They are closely followed by Gimnasia de Mendoza and Vélez Sarsfield. Zone B sees Sarmiento de Junín and Argentinos Juniors leading the pack. Racing Club sits with five points, while River Plate is in a disappointing penultimate position with only four points.
