Bodyguard for Dilan and Engin Polat killed in armed attack; footage emerges

A fatal shooting occurred in Çeşme Alaçatı, Turkey, claiming the life of Can Polat, 37, who served as a bodyguard for the well-known social media couple Dilan and Engin Polat. The incident took place around 1:45 PM on Tuesday, as Polat was preparing to leave the hotel where the couple was staying.

Polat was entering his vehicle when he was targeted in a shooting. He sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the hospital by emergency medical teams. Despite all efforts to save him, he succumbed to his wounds.

The suspect, identified as S.A., born in 2003, was apprehended by our Provincial Police Department teams shortly after with the weapon believed to have been used in the crime.

Following the attack, the İzmir Provincial Police Department swiftly launched an investigation and apprehended a suspect shortly after. The İzmir Governorship released a statement confirming the details of the shooting and the arrest of the suspect, identified as S.A., born in 2003, along with the weapon believed to have been used in the crime. The investigation is ongoing and being conducted meticulously.

Security camera footage captured the moments of the attack, showing Polat collapsing to the ground next to his car's open door after the shots were fired. The video also revealed the immediate panic that ensued among bystanders. The suspect is currently undergoing processing at the police station.
