Bogor Regency Plans Six New Stations for Parung Panjang-Jasinga Railway

The Bogor Regency government in West Java, Indonesia, is planning the construction of six new train stations as part of an expansion of the Parung Panjang-Jasinga railway line. This initiative aims to enhance regional connectivity within western Bogor and establish an integrated transportation system, aligning with the Bogor Regent's directive for improved mass transit options. The development is seen as crucial for connecting various areas of the regency, not just the Puncak region.

Initial studies conducted by the Bogor Regency Regional Development, Research, and Planning Agency (Bapperida) in 2025 recommend developing the Parung Panjang-Jasinga route. This recommendation followed an assessment of 15 criteria, including technical, economic, social, and environmental factors. The proposed route spans approximately 27.26 kilometers, utilizing at-grade (surface) construction with heavy rail. The plan includes six new stations, with connections to the existing station in Parung Panjang. The train is projected to have a travel time of about 24 minutes, supported by six level crossings and 17 bridges.

The development of this rail-based transportation is part of the effort to build inter-regional connectivity. So it's not just in Puncak, but also how the West Bogor region has mass transportation support through the Tenjo-Jasinga train plan.

The estimated operational cost per passenger is projected to be between Rp20,000 and Rp30,000. Beyond alleviating traffic congestion, the railway development is intended to open up access and stimulate the emergence of new economic growth centers. The principle is to integrate transportation with regional development, thereby increasing public mobility, fostering new economic hubs, and ensuring that development benefits are distributed more equitably.

An alternative route, Tenjo-Jasinga, is also under consideration, spanning 18.6 kilometers with three stations. The Parung Panjang-Jasinga alternative in the transport agency's documents covers a longer distance of approximately 26.5 kilometers, passing through Parung Panjang, Rumpin, Cigudeg, Jasinga, and Tenjo, with six planned stations. This new line is intended to serve commuter movements and act as a feeder for passengers to the Jabodetabek KRL Commuter Line network via Parung Panjang Station, supporting its development as a regional service center.
