Bokkos attack: IG deploys AIG, tactical teams to Plateau

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has ordered the deployment of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Dankombo Morris to Plateau State. This action follows a recent attack on the Kawel community in Bokkos Local Government Area. The deployment is intended to facilitate an immediate on-the-spot assessment of the security situation and to implement measures designed to restore peace and prevent any recurrence of violence.

The Chairman of Bokkos Local Government Area, Hon. Amalau Samuel Amalau, commended the Inspector-General for the prompt intervention and described the attack as a tragic and unprovoked act of criminality.

In addition to AIG Morris, the Inspector-General has approved the deployment of substantial police resources. This includes additional personnel, the Police Mobile Force, and tactical teams. These assets will bolster the security presence in the affected region, aiming to enhance protection for vulnerable communities. During his visit to Bokkos, AIG Morris met with local government officials, traditional leaders, and other stakeholders to discuss the security challenges.

He disclosed that victims of the incident had been buried and appealed for sustained deployment of security personnel and operational assets to complement ongoing efforts to secure lives and property.

He described the attack as a criminal act and appealed for a continuous deployment of security personnel and equipment. Mrs. Hajara Yunana, President of the Women in Politics Initiative in Plateau State, highlighted the attack's impact on women and families. She urged the police to translate assurances into action and called for the integration of modern policing technology to improve security in the area. She also encouraged residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information.

The AIG urged community leaders and residents to cooperate with security agencies, stating that the situation is under control and encouraging lawful activities while maintaining security awareness.
