Boko Haram Releases Obituary for Slain Videographer Killed by Army

Boko Haram has issued an obituary for Abu Salim al-Barnawi, a media operative within the militant group, who was killed by Nigerian soldiers. The announcement came via a video released by the Acting Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni.

According to Captain Goni, al-Barnawi was "smoked" last week by the Nigerian army during an attack by the terrorist group on a Nigerian military camp. The incident occurred in the Lake Chad Basin area, where military troops engaged in an intense firefight with Boko Haram.

Al-Barnawi was identified as the group's cameraman and videographer. Prior to his involvement in the media wing of the terrorist organization, he had reportedly led raids into Cameroon. The released video, which lasts just over three minutes, reportedly shows al-Barnawi displaying his communication equipment at various events before his death.

The military operation resulted in the deaths of scores of Boko Haram terrorists, including al-Barnawi, during the assault on the military base. The Nigerian army's action highlights ongoing efforts to combat the insurgency in the region.
