Bolivian midfielder Miguelito renews with Santos until mid-2029

Brazilian football club Santos announced the contract renewal of promising Bolivian attacking midfielder Miguelito, extending his commitment to the club until May 31, 2029. The new deal replaces his previous contract, which was set to expire in April 2027, securing a key player for the historic club for the next several years.

Miguelito, born Miguel Ángel Terceros Acuña in Santa Cruz de la Sierra in 2004, joined Santos' youth academy at the age of 14 in 2018. He was integrated into the first team in 2022 and quickly established himself, gaining significant playing time under coach Cuca. He became a regular starter in the final matches of the Brazilian Championship before joining the Bolivian national team for the World Cup qualifiers. For his country, Miguelito has been a standout player, scoring nine goals in 32 appearances since his debut four years ago.

I am very happy to be evolving and growing in the last few games. Santos FC is part of my history and now, with the contract renewed, I hope to repay that affection on the field," Miguelito stated in a club release. This season, he has contributed to five goals in 20 appearances for Santos.

The contract extension is a strategic move by Santos, reflecting an "institutional policy" to "value" players developed within their own academy. This approach has seen the club also extend contracts for other young talents like Gabriel Bontempo and Robinho Jr. in the past year, aiming to build a strong core of homegrown players for the future.
