Bolu Governor's Office invites media to event, then cancels press access

The Bolu Governor's Office initially extended invitations to local and national media for an opening ceremony scheduled for July 23. The event, named the "Five in One Day Mass Opening and Loyalty Program," was to be held at the Hatice Ana Values Education Center and was to feature the head of the Religious Affairs Directorate, Safi Arpaguş.

However, the Governor's Office issued a second announcement shortly after, stating that the program would be closed to the press. This decision was made "at the request of the Directorate of Religious Affairs Press Office." The revised notification also informed the media that the Directorate would be supplying them with footage of the event.

The initial invitation had specified the event would take place at 2:30 PM next to the Provincial Mufti's office. The sudden reversal has led to questions about transparency and media access to public events involving high-ranking religious officials.
