Bomb threat forces evacuation of Paraguay's Unified National Registry building

The central headquarters of Paraguay's Unified National Registry (RUN) in Asunción was evacuated on Sunday morning after the building received a bomb threat via a telephone call. Authorities have launched an investigation to apprehend the individual responsible for the alarming call.

The RUN's switchboard, located at the intersection of Eusebio Ayala Avenue and Capitán Román García Street, received the call from a man threatening to detonate a bomb. "We received a phone call from a man, a male voice, threatening that he was going to detonate a bomb, and well, all prevention protocols were activated from the Supreme Court and the National Police itself," stated Lourdes González, Senior Manager of the RUN.

Following the threat, emergency protocols were immediately implemented. The Supreme Court and the National Police collaborated to manage the situation, ensuring the safety of personnel and the public. The RUN building was cleared while authorities assessed the threat.

An investigation is currently in progress to trace the call and identify the perpetrator. Officials are working to determine the origin of the threat and hold the responsible party accountable. The incident caused temporary disruption to the operations at the RUN, which is responsible for various national registries.
