Bontang Strengthens Future Generations Through Teen Pre-Marital Guidance

The Bontang city government is prioritizing the development of human resources by reinforcing family foundations from an early age. This commitment is being realized through a pre-marital guidance program for teenagers, organized by the Gerakan Keluarga Sakinah (GKS) Kota Bontang. The event, held at the MUI Bontang Selatan building, focused on preparing young individuals for future roles as heads of households, wives, and leaders.

Anwar Sadat, representing the Mayor of Bontang, emphasized that guiding teenagers is crucial for Bontang's development vision. He stated that preparing today's youth is akin to preparing the city's foundation for a more robust future. The guidance is viewed as a long-term investment in regional development, equipping participants with essential life skills beyond marital preparation.

The program's theme, "Educate First, Marry Later," underscores the message that completing education and acquiring knowledge should precede thoughts of marriage. Muhammad Amir, the head of GKS Kota Bontang, stressed the importance of prioritizing education and personal development before entering into marriage, to avoid distractions from academic pursuits.

Around 100 students from 10 public high schools and vocational schools in Bontang were invited to the event. The guidance aims to ensure that teenagers understand the significance of a mature marriage, grounded in religious and legal principles. It also highlights the critical role of education, character, and mental readiness in building harmonious and high-quality families.
