Borno praises troops as Zulum leads resettlement efforts in liberated communities

Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has praised troops fighting in the northeast, saying their work has helped create the conditions needed to restore civilian life in border communities.

Zulum made the comments during a visit to the headquarters of Joint Task Force North-East, Operation Hadin Kai, after a working visit to the Nigerian Army’s 68 Battalion in Mallam-Fatori, headquarters of Abadam Local Government Area.

His meeting with the theatre commander focused on security in the Mallam-Fatori axis and the operation’s efforts to consolidate military gains, secure liberated communities and maintain conditions for displaced people to return. The governor also pledged continued support from the Borno government, particularly by providing requirements intended to improve troops’ operational effectiveness.

The discussions also highlighted plans to speed up the resettlement of more liberated communities across Borno and enable the safe and dignified return of refugees from neighbouring countries. Military information officer Captain Mohammed Goni said those efforts complement the security gains achieved by Operation Hadin Kai by helping restore essential services, rebuild communities and support sustainable return and reintegration.

At 68 Battalion, Zulum met the commanding officer, Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Chiwar, along with senior officers and troops deployed in the area. He commended their commitment to securing the border community. Operation Hadin Kai said it would continue coordinated operations to protect communities, secure critical infrastructure and facilitate the return of displaced people.
