Braves Manager Says Acuña Jr. is 'Close' to Return

Atlanta Braves manager Walt Weiss expressed optimism about outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr.'s impending return to the team. Weiss stated that Acuña Jr. is "close" to rejoining the club, though the exact timing depends on his performance during his minor league rehabilitation assignment.

Currently, Acuña Jr. is batting .238 with one home run and six RBIs in seven games as he works his way back from a left hamstring injury. While his numbers are a consideration, the Braves' primary focus is ensuring he is fully healthy before activating him.

This season has been challenging for Acuña Jr., marked by two stints on the injured list. His current absence is due to a left hamstring issue, but he previously missed time with a hamstring injury in May. These setbacks follow a significant injury in 2024, where he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, sidelining him for 112 regular-season games. He also dealt with a right Achilles tendon injury in 2025.
