Despite the bizarre turn of events, Maranhão's team managed to secure a crucial three points, maintaining their ninth position in the Brasileirao standings. The defender, who stands at 1.92 meters tall and plays as a right-footed center-back, has garnered a significant following on social media, with over 60,000 Instagram followers.

Following the incident, Maranhão took to his social media to reassure his fans. He shared photos celebrating Father's Day in Brazil, indicating he was recovering well. His manager, Miguel Calluf Neto, also posted a video of the fall, playfully captioning it "They didn't pay attention" and adding that "after the scare, everything is fine with our warrior," accompanied by laughing emojis, diffusing any serious concern.

Maranhão, whose full name is Jacy Oliveira, adopted "Maranhão" as part of his moniker, referencing his home state in northeastern Brazil. His career has seen him play in Slovakia for FK Pohronie and FC ViOn Zlaté Moravce in the second division, as well as various clubs in Brazil's lower leagues. He recently achieved a career milestone by helping his current club, Coritiba, ascend from the second division to the top tier of Brazilian football.
