Breguet's new creations pay tribute to 225 years of the tourbillon

Watchmaker Breguet is commemorating the 225th anniversary of the tourbillon, an invention patented by Abraham-Louis Breguet on June 26, 1801, which revolutionized watchmaking by counteracting gravity's effect on timekeeping accuracy.

The new Classique Tourbillon 7357 watch draws inspiration from Breguet's first tourbillon wristwatch from 1989. It is equipped with the new 187B hand-wound tourbillon movement, featuring a silicon balance spring for enhanced precision and resistance to magnetic fields. Both the 950 platinum and 18K rose gold versions come in a 35mm case, adorned with hand-engraved "Clous de Paris" hobnail patterns on the dial, case back, and case band, embodying Breguet's signature minimalist style.

Further expanding its anniversary collection, Breguet introduced the Classique Tourbillon Sidéral 7255. This model uniquely combines a flying tourbillon, supported only by a lower bridge for a "floating" effect, with a "mystery" structure. This effect is achieved by using sapphire crystal for the gears connecting the tourbillon cage to the movement, rendering them visually invisible against a black aventurine dial, creating a dramatic visual impact.

The collection also features the Tradition Tourbillon 7047, which integrates a tourbillon with a fusée-and-chain transmission for constant power delivery, ensuring stable and precise operation. This model sports Breguet's signature "Breguet blue" on the dial and movement bridges, with blue spinels replacing the traditional rubies on the tourbillon carriage. The Marine Tourbillon Equation Marchante 5887 is highlighted as a "weighty work," combining a tourbillon with a perpetual calendar and a running equation of time, powered by the 581DPE caliber. Its blue grand feu enamel dial features a hand-painted depiction of the Parisian night sky from June 26, 1801, marking the patent date.
