Brennan: First major tour win is 'special moment'

British cyclist Matthew Brennan has achieved a career milestone, securing his first stage victory in a major tour. The Visma Lease a Bike rider celebrated the achievement after sprinting to victory in Manosque, France.

Brennan described the win as a "special and unforgettable moment," emphasizing that he could not have accomplished it without the full support of his team. He expressed happiness with his personal progression and his ability to compete in sprints during the tour. "It's a very special day, to remember always, and I hope it's not the last. A victory that I wouldn't have achieved without the team. I am very happy with my progression and to be here in the Vuelta competing in the sprints," he stated.

The young rider admitted to being at his physical limit during the final sprint but credited intense training sessions focused on short, high-intensity efforts with his coach for his improved performance. He noted a period earlier in the season where he struggled with form but is now thrilled to be winning just the second day into the race.

Looking ahead, Brennan anticipates the upcoming stage in Andorra, which is his place of residence. He expressed excitement about being reunited with his girlfriend and family in the principality.
