Bride-to-Be Dies in Balıkesir Accident on Her Wedding Day

A tragic accident in Balıkesir has claimed the life of 27-year-old Birsen Filiz, who succumbed to her injuries after a three-day struggle for survival. Filiz was critically wounded on August 19 when she became trapped under a vehicle in the Balıkesir Paşa Mosque underground parking lot. She was rushed to the hospital for treatment, but ultimately could not overcome her severe injuries. The devastating news has plunged her family and loved ones into mourning. Adding to the profound sorrow, it was revealed that August 22, the day of her death, was supposed to be Filiz's wedding day. Preparations for her wedding were underway, and she had traveled to Balıkesir for a bridal gown fitting when the accident occurred. Her family and friends had been anxiously awaiting positive news from the hospital. Instead, they received the news of her passing. Birsen Filiz was brought to her family home wrapped in a burial shroud instead of the white wedding dress she had prepared. Her funeral was held in her father's home in Edremit's Çamcı neighborhood, where she was laid to rest amidst the tears of her family and friends. The headman of Çamcı neighborhood, Cetin Kurt, expressed the community's grief, stating, "We were going to send her off as a bride to Mehmetalan, but instead, we sent her off as a bride to the other world."
