Brigitte Macron's early life: From confectionery heir to teacher and mother of three

Brigitte Macron, born Brigitte Trogneux in 1953, hailed from a prosperous family known for its confectionery business. She was the youngest of six children, growing up in a household steeped in strict Catholic traditions. Her path to education was consistent. After graduating from the private Lycée du Sacré-Cœur in Amiens, she obtained a master's degree in literature. In the early 1980s, she successfully passed the CAPES exam, earning her qualification to teach French literature.

Interestingly, before embarking on her teaching career, the future first lady served as a press attaché at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, gaining her first significant public sector experience. In the 1990s, Brigitte taught French and Latin in Strasbourg, but by 1991, she had returned to her hometown of Amiens. There, she continued her beloved work at the private Catholic Lycée La Providence. In addition to literature classes, she led a theater club and helped organize school plays. It was here in 1993 that she met Emmanuel Macron, who was among her students and participants in theater activities.

Prior to her life with the future French president, Brigitte was married for a long time. In 1974, at the age of 21, she married banker André-Louis Auzière. Notably, Brigitte had her first two children before Emmanuel Macron was born. Her son Sébastien was born in 1975, followed by her daughter Laurence in 1977, who later became E. Macron's classmate. Their youngest daughter, Tiphaine, was born in 1984. The marriage with her first husband lasted over 30 years and officially ended in divorce in 2006.
