Britain ready to defend itself after Iran threat

Great Britain is ready to defend itself, authorities announced, responding to threats from Iran after London permitted U.S. forces to use British bases. The British Ministry of Defence stated its armed forces are prepared to protect the country from "any kind of attack, whether it originates from British territory or abroad." "Great Britain is ready to defend itself non-stop," the British ministry added on social media. This statement alluded to a multi-layered air and missile defense system involving the British navy, army, and air force, coordinated with NATO allies.

Earlier, Iran's Foreign Ministry condemned Great Britain for its decision to allow the United States to use British military bases and facilities for attacks on Iran, according to the Iranian agency IRNA. The ministry considers Britain to have joined the "illegal war" waged by the U.S. and Israel against Iran. It added that any participation in planning or executing these operations "constitutes complicity in committing crimes of aggression and war crimes."

Iran affirmed its "determination to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity." It warned that "any party" participating in military aggression against Iran would be held "responsible for the consequences of its decisions."
