BTS Ticket Scam Alert: Fans Urged to Be Wary

Live Nation Malaysia's Managing Director, Paramananthan Rajagopal, acknowledged the company is aware of a scam involving fake tickets for the K-pop group BTS's concert, which is currently a hot topic on social media. He stated that scam syndicates employ diverse methods to deceive fans eager to obtain tickets for the group's performances.

"I have indeed heard about this matter because the issue has become a commotion. But scammers are still scammers; they will do anything to cheat," Rajagopal said. "They will give various reasons to convince the public, including claiming to be insiders with access to tickets."

He was commenting on allegations that individuals are offering BTS concert tour tickets in Malaysia even though official sales have not yet opened. Paramananthan added that the organizers understand fans' concerns, especially when irresponsible parties resell tickets at exorbitant prices. "We understand fans feel insecure when someone buys a ticket for RM500 but resells it for RM2,000," he noted.

"If the ticket were legitimate, it might not be an issue, but the problem arises when buyers discover the tickets are unusable upon arrival at the concert venue," he explained. Consequently, he hopes the government will take stricter action to combat the increasingly rampant activities of fake ticket sales and online fraud. "That's why we hope the government will be firmer in addressing this matter and help achieve the 'Buy Safe Tickets' agenda. However, I will personally look into this issue and conduct further investigations," he stated.

Previously, social media buzzed with claims from several parties who allegedly already possessed BTS concert tickets in Malaysia, including for VIP categories, despite official sales not having opened. This situation has raised concerns among fans about becoming victims of fake ticket scams or unauthorized purchases.
